Erotic Art

I recently found an artist online who knows how to speak my language: that of sexy, furry, masculine (not to mention hung) older men. I managed to get in touch with Danny for an interview for the HOM blog. Danny is a very friendly and intelligent guy. I enjoyed interviewing him almost as much as I enjoy looking at his paintings of hot and hung daddies... almost.

CR: I understand that you are mostly self-taught. How did you get into painting?
DB: Yes, I am mostly self-taught. I painted for 25 years until I moved to Florida 6 years ago and decided to go to college and get some art training.  The classes were great and did give me new ways of looking at things and the classes also helped me technically.  I got into painting when I moved to Los Angeles from my small town in Louisiana in my mid-twenties.  I saw this big giant art store one day and it fascinated me.  I went in and couldn’t help but buy a few brushes, paints and canvases and started dabbling.  Dabbling in male figures of course.

CR: I'm always curious about the process of an artist. How often do you paint? Is it something that you are drawn to doing?

herma [hur-muh] n. pl. herms also hermai
A rectangular, often tapering stone post bearing a carved head or bust, used as a boundary marker or for decorative purposes. Male genitals may also be carved at the appropriate height. This form was originated in ancient Greece, was then adopted by the Romans and brought back into fashion in the Renaissance.

To put that in more simple terms, a herma is a statue that features just the head and the cock-- nothing else but a rectangular stone holding them up. You'll have to forgive my phallocentric appreciation of the antiquities, but there's just not enough phallic worship these days (at least publicly). Which is why I think we should start a movement to bring back the herma.

Hermai (plural of herma) are associated with the god Hermes:

"Hermes is the messenger of the gods in Greek mythology. An Olympian god, he is also the patron of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them, of shepherds and cowherds, of road travelers, of orators and wit, of literature and poets, of athletics, of weights and measures, of invention, and of general commerce."

Minoru Several years ago I was wandering through the vendor "maul" at International Bear Rendezvous when I stumbled upon Minoru sitting at a table surrounded by his erotic art and drooling men who were thumbing through prints. I was agog not only with the sexy, beefy, hairy men with giant god-like cocks, but was struck by the talent of this artist. It’s not often I see erotic art that really turns my crank, but Minoru knows how to do it.

I recently had the great pleasure of doing an interview with this talented man who shares my proclivity for mature men, daddies and bears. I’ve always been a fan of his work so it was quite a thrill when he expressed he’s also fan of HotOlderMale.com and Pantheon Productions.

Chris Roma: When did you start drawing daddies and bears?

Minoru: I started drawing them in 2002 when I was a student taking life drawing and oil painting classes at Glendale College.

Chris: I’ve always been curious what it’s like drawing a nude model. Can you tell me a bit about what that’s like for you?

Minoru: Many of the models I work with are not professional, so I feel comfortable making the model’s image in my original way. Also the men I draw must be my type of bear. Many people send me photos and ask me to draw them, but most of the time I refuse because they are not the type of man that turns me on. I must be excited in order to create art.
